Duma finance committee head expects tougher controls on bitcoin holders

In an interview with Talk Moscow radio station, Anatoly Aksakov, who heads the State Duma’s Finance Committee, said that pressure on cryptocurrency holders will intensify in the near future.

According to him, the Russian government is already considering Anon System options for introducing a mechanism to control the movement of funds in bitcoin and other coins.

We would remind you that a law on so-called digital financial assets came into force in our country from the beginning of January 2021.

Anatoly Aksakov stressed that taxation and mandatory declaration of cryptocurrencies are just some of the most important elements of state control over the cryptosphere. In 2021, such control is expected to be gradually strengthened, similar measures are taken by many other countries, the State Duma deputy noted.

He also reminded that bitcoin cannot be used as a payment instrument in Russia.

So far, the authorities have no plans to soften the legislation and recognize BTC and altcoins as a means of payment, the MP summarized.
